Just finished watching the new BBC Northanger Abbey and Persuasion. I liked them both. There were some weird incongruous sexy dreams in Northanger, but I loved the depiction of Cathy, and actually cried when Mr. Tilney got mad at her for being an idiot, so it's all good. lol

On Persuasion: there were some things I didn't like. The direct eye contact with the camera was weird, the constant running after Captain Wentworth at the end was ridiculous, and that kiss that just took FOREVER! And was that her old house at the end? However, these things aside, I actually liked it better than the 1995 version. Captain Wentworth was less giddy, which I thought was better for character consistency--and of course, he was cuter, which didn't hurt a bit! lol Anne was much more emotional, but I thought that was all to the good. It made the audience realize so much more intensely what she felt and had missed out on. I also felt it was more understandable than the '95 v--the relationships of the characters, etc (though the school friend was definitely just thrown in there willy-nilly). It was quite good. You can watch both Northanger and Persuasion on Youtube.
